Trinity Rodman takes the time away from the Washington Spirit while she deals with problems, said the National Women’s Soccer League team.
The attacker, who also plays for the national team of American women, will be sidelined indefinitely. The Washington Post was the first to report the absence of Rodman.
“We look forward to her return when she is healthy,” said the Spirit in a statement.
Rodman won to gold medal for the United States at the Paris Olympic Games last summer. Last September she was injured during the match against the Stroom of Kansas City.
She returned to the national team at the beginning of this month and scored in a 2-0 win over Brazil. She also played last weekend in the 2-0 victory of the Spirit at Racing Louisville. This season she played in four games.
After the 1-0 away victory of the Spirit on the Orlando Pride on Saturday, head coach Jonatan Giráldez said he was focused on the game.
“Now being honest, it’s too early to talk about that. Today I was focused on the game,” he said. “In the following days I will have more information and I will be able to share with you all.”
Last month, Rodman told reporters that the problem was not as much as the way her back was structured.
“I don’t think my back will ever be the way it was my Rookie year, which is a shame,” said Rodman.
