Cathay Terminal Position has completed the first -to -end test of autonomous electric tractors (AET) to tow directly from inside the terminal to the West Position (WCA) at the Hong Kong International Airport.
The test involved a totally autonomous electric tractor that pulled four load dolls to the Cathay load terminal and led Itelf to the correct load transfer door for the load. After loading, the AET left the terminal and successfully completed its travel airport to the farthest load apron, the WCA, which delivered the load ready to load directly on a cathay load flight.
A unique feature of this initiative is the precise coupling solution, which allows the AET’s towing chains to automatically align with the transfer cover for the loading device load without seam (Uld). Improved security characteristics also allow the AET to be checked digitally inside and outside the terminal without compromising safety.
