Why Saints broke QB draft drought to select little-known passer Tyler Shough

The new Quarterback from the Saints is relatively an old quarterback.

New Orleans used his second round concept choice at Tyler Shaugh in Louisville, Whue Draft Stock Rose after seven years of university football, 40th in general for the highest pick of the Saints used on a Quarterback since Archie Manning in 1971.

With the future of veteran Derek car at best not sure of a shoulder injury, the 25-year-old greenhouse could be their starting quarterback, higher in the design than third-year Pro Jake Haener or second-year passer Spencer Rattler. Shash broke in Louisville last year and threw yards and 23 touchdowns for 3,195, but after three seasons that came to Oregon and Texas Tech.

To put his age in perspective: the surname of Shegh-His is “shuck”, put him in line for a French neighborhood Oyster House Sponsorship deal was a teammate of Oregon in 2019 of the current Saints Tigh End Juwan Johnson, a sixth-year Pro who now has his third NFL contract. Shegh got the degree of his master in 2022 and now gets the chance to take the reins of a new Saints attack led by first-year coach Kellen Moore.

The selection of Shegh is remarkable for those who have not taken the saints: Sheedeur Sanders of Colorado. By many analyzes I have been projected as a potential match for the first round of New Orleans on the ninth in general. Sanders was not picked in the first round of Thursday and watched the Giants traded Ole Miss Quarterback Jaxson Dart, and the saints went in a different direction on Friday.

While he is the definition of a late bloomer, Shash won scouts during this spring. It has a good size at 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds and a strong, accurate arm. He is exactly one year older than Rattler, prepared last year, and is six months younger than Haener, who was drawn up in 2023.

The saints used their first pick Thursday on Texas offers from Kelvin Banks, in the hope that an improved attacking line will make life easier for those behind the center. New Orleans still has a busy appetite, with two picks in the third and fourth rounds as a result of the Marshon Lattimore Handelshon.

New Orleans hopes to bounce back from 5-12 Record-de Wors of the team since 2006 that the saints finished last in the NFC South. Shegh can get the chance to give them their first play -off -appearance since Drew Brees withdrew after the 2020 season.
