Struggle

  • Russian President Vladimir Putin praised what he said was the complete failure of an offensive by the Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region of Russia after Moscow said he had been expelled from the last village they had been holding.

  • The Chief of the General personnel of Russia, Valery Gerasimov, has confirmed for the first time that North Korean soldiers have been fighting with the Russian troops in Kursk, praising their “courage and heroism” to help expel Ukrainians.

Diplomacy and politics

  • The FSB security service said that a suspect about the murder of the Russian military officer Senior Yaroslav Moskalik for a automobile bomb was detanrated. Kremlin has blamed Ukraine for murder. There were no official Kyiv comments about the attack.
  • The president of the United States, Donald Trump, questioned if Putin wants a peace agreement, shortly after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zenskyy in the Basilica of San Pedro before the funeral of Pope Francis in Rome.
  • Zenskyy said the meeting could be historical if it offers the type of peace you expect, and a White House spokesman called it “very productive.”
  • After the meeting, Trump, a difficult tone for the Russian leader, writing: “There was no reason for Putin to shoot missiles in civil areas, cities and towns, in recent days.” He also urged Putin to stop bombing civil areas in Ukraine, adding that secondary sanctions to Russia could be necessary in response.
  • After Trump’s comments, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said the United States Senate is ready to advance the bipartisan legilation that would impose commercial sanctions to countries that buy oil, gas and other Russian products.
  • The French president, Emmanuel Macron, said after a “very positive” exchange with Zenskyy that Ukraine was ready for a high unconditional fire and that the so -called “coalition of the provisions” directed by France and the United Datt dated Ashya Daavey of some work work of Woodyy’s work of a little lobe.

  • The Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said he hopes that Russia show concrete signals of his willingness to follow peace in Ukraine, after meeting with Zenskyy in Rome after Pope Francis’s funeral.

  • The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, offered Zenskyy the support of the EU in any negotiation to end the war with Russia, adding that the block “will always be from Ukraine in the search for peace.”
