Sanders was recruited in the fifth round of the NFL draft on Saturday by the Cleveland Browns. But not before suffering a mass slide. It was predicted that Sanders would be written among the third in general and, no later than, in the second round.

It was the duration of that slide that was made the supposed joke call.

The young man who makes the call confirms that he has arrived in Shedeur, then identifies as the general manager of the Santos of New Orleans, Mickley Loomis.

“We will take you with our next choice here, man,” said the young man on the phone.

“Yes, sir, let’s be legendary,” the person replied at the other end.

Then the deception ended quickly.

“You’re going to have a little more time, man. Sorry for that,” said the young man on the couch before finishing the call.

The Atlanta Falcons also issued a statement on Sunday, explaining that the coach’s son found Sanders’ number on an open iPad belonging to his father and the team, and wrote the number down.

“Jeff Ulbrich was not a flavor to the exposure of data or any facet of the joke and realized the above only after the fact,” said the Falcons statement. “

The coach’s son, in his statement, thanked Sanders for accepting his phone call and apologized.

The NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the league is reviewing the matter and has been in communication with the Falcons.
