The iconic history of Casino de Coral in Montecito

Located along the Virgen de Montecito coast, the Casino Beach and Cabana Club coral stands as one of the most exclusive and historical social clubs in California. A luxury, glamor and leisure symbol in front of the sea, Coral Casino has been a meeting place for Hollywood elites, business magnates and local socialities for generations. But beyond its current prestige, the Casino de Coral has a fascinating story that reflects the evolution of Montecito himself.

A glamorous beginning

The Casino de Coral was conceived in the 1930s by the visionary developer Frederick Clapp. Recognizing the growing reputation of Montecito as a shelter for the rich, Clapp sought to create a retirement against the sea that incorporated elegance and exclusive. The official opening of his Doens in 1937, the club quickly became a destination for the rich and famous, offering incomparable views of the Pacific Ocean and the luxurious comforts that established it, established it, which leaves another social club on the west coast.

Hollywood Children

Through the 1940s and 1950s, the Casino coral solidified its reputation as the last recreation patio for the Hollywood elite. It was known that stars such as Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin and Lana Turner frequent the club, mixing with the high society of Santa Barbara. The club’s Olympic pool, the cabins and the restoration options of excellent meals made it the perfect retirement for those looking for privacy and relaxation far from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.

A changing landscape

In the 1970s, the Casino de Coral experienced changes in the property and underwent several renovations. The exclusion of the club fluctuated the duration in this period, with membership policies that evolve to fulfill changing times. However, the club never lost its reputation as a symbol of high society and the luxury that lives in Montecito.

A luxurious restoration

In 2000, Ty Warner, billionaire businessman Beanie Babies and the owner of Four Seasons Biltmore, acquired the coral casino with a vision of restoring him to his former glory. After an extensive multimillionaire renewal, the club reopened in 2008, combining a modern luxury with its historical charm. The restoration included updates to the pool, cabins and food facilities, ensuring that the club maintained its elite status.

Coral casino today

Today, the Casino Beach and Cabana Club coral remains a retirement only by invitation, offering members and guests an experience in the sea without equal. With its impressive Spanish colonial reactivation architecture, world -class restaurants at the Tydes restaurant and the impressive views of Butterfly Beach, the club is still a symbol of coastal life refined in Montecito.

From its golden era as a celebrity retirement to its modern exclusive, the club is still an iconic milestone. Whether to swim in its legendary post or an event of excellent dinner by the sea, the coral casino continues to be a timeless piece of the rich social history of California.
