Rory McIlroy noted distance challenge at Truist Championship in Philly Crricket Club

The subject distance is complicated in the contemporary world of Golf.

Professionals are so talented, so athletic, so strong and have access to all kinds of training material on top of equipment that are overwhelming golf counts that have long passed the test of time. This feels honest and objective to say without turning on.

It is when you go beyond this surface level that debates runs unbridled. Talking about rolling things has happened forever and it seems that the future of Golf has submitted in this area (it has serious questions in different areas of his future to be clear).

Consider what Masters champion Rory McCilroy said on Wednesday about the upcoming Truist Championship in Philly Crickt Club.

Rory McIlroy on Philly Cricket Club: “I just realized that these new renewal courses for the renewal, as the strategy has just hit the driver everywhere and then sorting it out.” pic.twitter.com/xfq60jwk7c

McIlroy is also the ruling winner of the trust championship, but he won the event in Quail Hollow where it traditionally takes place. This week, the PGA Tour is organizing the location in Philly Crickt Club – their first event in Philadelphia since 2018 – because of the PGA championship of Quail Hollow, next week’s PGA championship.

The strategy of McIlroy (loosely spoken) is fair. Bomb it will be that you can and trust your game to save you from not too far away. But this is not viable or substantial for golf in general.

Consider coming from a week in which Scottie Scheffler won the CJ Cup with a score of 31 -under par. You are clearly the best players in the world, but this is a level of dominance that is not good for the game and the future in the long term.

Most in the Truist field, for signatures for the event, will probably follow the “advice” offered by McIlroy. We could look at a new incredibly low score of the final winner.

However, the world of Golf is never predictable. We’ll see!
