Milling & postmill processing 3m chairside zirconia

In our last article, we sorz in Circonium and its structure. We highlight the property that allows zirconia to be such a versatile dental material. We also highlight some of the properties of the 3MTM Chairside circumstance, and what gives the unique combination of functional and aesthetic force.

In this article, I would like to discuss milling processing and processing after the mill or the 3MTM chair zone. To begin with, the ziron grinding process is quite different than the grinding process used with chair glass ceramics. The smallest diameter of the stistyed carbide used in the grinding process, compared to the diamond reeds used in the grinding process, allows a remarkably smaller joke of the restoration ink. The overmylization phenomenon stands out for the images below. The crown was designed to review a personalized pillar. The left restoration shows the grinding process using Diamond Burs. The right restoration shows the grinding process using carbide bursas.

The grinding process with Circonio is outstanding with the new Elder of Dentsply Syrona. We have multiple milling options with the first. There is fast, fine and very good. I am using the Fast Mill option most of the time in practice for individual units. However, when I am making bridges, I usually find using the extra fine option. I prefer extra fine configuration for bridges because I can achieve more definition in the switches associated with the connectors. The images below compare the fast, fine and extra fine strawberry of a single unit or 3MTM Sidingide zone.

As you can see in the images of Figure 2, there is a difference in the general occlusal anatomy that is generated from the burs when the extra fine grinding is used. However, in my practice, the ability to accelerate in approximately 5 minutes compared to the anatomy that I receive for extra fine freshness at 18 minutes is not relevant.

Regardless of the speed of the mill that is selected, marginal integrity, milling the zirconia has no rival. The softness of the material in the green state, combined with carbide reeds, makes margins that are pristine. We do not see any chipped chip as we can see with some of the other glass ceramics when bothering a fine margin.

​In my practice, I try to maintain the processing after the very simple zirconia mill for the members of my team. First we use a fine carbide cementine to remove the sprue. Next, we use Meisinger’s Blue Twist policy to eliminate any of the superficial scratches that remain from the milling process. Then, it is important to eliminate any circumstanding zirconium powder. If dust is left on the surface of the restoration, it will affect the aesthetics of the final product when it is sintering.

Once clean, the restoration is sintering in the Speedfire fire oven of Syrona Dentsply. The restoration is always placed from the occlusal side down. This takes into account the contraction that occurs the duration of the sintering process. We would like because our margins crawl against the shot pad as the restoration shrinks the duration of the sintering.

Speedfire oven technology is what allows the circumference to be a restorative material of Sáteles. Before the Speedfire oven, the Zirconia sintering process would take several hours. Although it was a fantastic material, the long processing time made it useless in a request, the same day. Now being able to sterize this material in approximately 20 minutes is an absolute game change in the chair dentral.

In the photo below you can see the importance of the passage prior to power. The crown on the left was not prepared and can still see the horizontal blows that remain of the milling process on the oral cusp. The crown to the right received the Prepolish and will be much easier to complete the process after the sorder.

In our practice, most of the only posterior unit 3MTM The circony of the chair is not glazed. We simply polish the restoration and then deliver it to the patient. My Go to Fin Polish is Meissinger’s Polish Yellow.

By using only three simple steps, we can manufacture predictable and aesthetic restorations for our patients. I love the simplicity of the arms that my team needs to process a zirconia restoration after the mill. It does not require many meals, enamels, spots, etc. They are only three beers as mentioned above.

In our practice, we almost exclusively pollute the ziron, however, glazing is also an option after the sintering process is completed. The restoration is mounted on one of the firing pins included with the Speedfire fire oven and then you can add enamel. The glazing cycle is fast, just about 9 minutes. The key here is to apply a layer of fine enamel and even for the entire restoration. We do not want to see the glaze accumulate and become liquid on the surface of the restoration.

3mTM Zirconia chair is a material that sacrifices me the aesthetics I want and the strength I need in my subsequent restorations. In the following case, the patient presented a restoration of amalgam in fault in the tooth #3. The decision was made to restore this case with a complete coverage restoration. The ability to be conservative with preparations when 3MTM zirconia is used in the chair makes these cases simplistic. In the final image, you can see the 3MTM Zirconia presidized, adjacent to an E.Max LT restoration in n. ° 4 and a porcelain fused to the metal crown in the tooth #5.
