Iran is looking for a “real and fair” agreement with the United States in its nuclear program, a senior assistant for supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Friday, before Talk about the weekend.

“Far from presenting a program and simply talking in front of the cameras, Tehran is looking for a real and fair agreement, the important and implementable proposals are ready,” said Khamei’s advisor Ali Shamkhani, in a publication about X.

The conversations between the adversaries will have taken place on Saturday in Oman, with the aim of reaching an agreement in the Tehran nuclear program. President Trump has said that they will be “direct conversations”, while Iran’s Foreign Minister referred to them as “high -level indirect conversations” through a mediator.

President Trump sent a letter to Khamenei last month urging negotiations, warning about the possible military action if Iran denies. In the period prior to this week’s conversations, Trump reiterated his warning that military action was “absolutely” possible if the conversations failed.

Iran responded by saying that it could expel UN nuclear inspectors, which caused another American warning that such action would be an “escalation.”

Iran has constantly denied that he is trying to acquire nuclear weapons and has said for decades that his program is peaceful. Its officials, thought, have increasingly threatened to pursue a nuclear weapon.

The intelligence agencies of the United States have evaluated that the country has not started a weapons program, but that it has “undertaken activities that position it better to produce a nuclear device, if you fail to do it,” Associated Press reported.

The special envoy of the United States, Steve Witkoff, will meet with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Oman, who has played a mediating role. Witkoff visited Russia on Friday to talk about Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin, an ally or Iran.
