The state of Tennessee has selected Carrum Health as its solution of centers of excellence of centers of excellence, Carrum announced Thursday. It occurs after the company announced a significant expansion last week that places 90% of Americans within the 50 miles of a Center for Excellence Carrum.

When working with the state of Tennessee, Carrum Health’s services are now notable for all employees covered by the State Health Plan. Its solution of of Excellence connects employers members with an examined network of specialized care suppliers, including musculoskeletal care, cardiac care, cancer attention and substance use treatment.

Carrum uses a boring and advanced payment model, in which suppliers receive a single payment for all services for an attention episode. This is compared to the service rate model, in which suppliers are paid for each individual service and procedure. The grouped payments are a form of value based on value, since suppliers are rewarded for providing efficient and quality care, but they have to assume the losses if it costs Goyond the target price.

Tennessee examined Carrum in the last nine to 12 months and selected the company due to its “quality approach, negotiating payment contracts based on the value with suppliers and local coverage,” according to Sach Jain, founder and CEO of Carrum Health. A Rand study on Carrum Health found that the company reduced costs by 45% for surgery, reduced re -entering by 80% and reduced surgeries by 30%.

With this association, Carrum’s public sector footprint is now in approximately 1 million lives. The company has been working with the state of Maine since 2019 and the state of Nevada since 2023. In total, the company supports 5 million lives.

Carrum Health also announced last week that it has expanded its network to more than 1,000 locations, which places 90% of Americans within 50 miles from a carrum location. It has also expanded its specialized care appointments to include gastroenterology, general surgery, gynecology, pain, urology and ears surgeries, nose and throat.

With this expansion of specialized care offers, Carrum now covers 40% or employer’s medical spending. This comes at a time when the employer’s medical care costs are triggered: an 8% increase in medical care costs this year is expected. And specialized care representatives approximately half or the health expense of employers.

However, this expansion did not come without its challenges. The company had to learn to take its model for its initial (musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, bariatric) lines and adapt it to new service lines.

“It was not easy to move and take the same model and apply it to cancer care or substance use disorder, because in our initial service lines, suppliers will give us approximately 30 days of re -entry wars,” Jain said in an interview. “That does not work for cancer, because the duration of the episode is years, and not only week or months.

“As the employers demanded a broader solution, we had to rise and discover a model that one side will fulfill our promise to make suppliers responsible for the cost and quality of care are that they offer for these specialties, so, therefore, to which, therefore.

The company built this network of Excellence centers based on a four -part framework called Care, Chistoph Dankert, network director: Network:

  • Cured for 10%higher: The company evaluates suppliers based on 55 metrics to ensure that it is only contracted with the higher 10% of suppliers. For example, when observing surgery, the company evaluates how many surgeries the supplier has performed, the son of the complications that patients have and how complications occur.
  • APPOSESE: Carrum encourages suppliers to focus on care that is more appropriate for patients versus the most profitable.
  • Risk suppliers: The company links payments to the results to encourage suppliers to provide the highest quality care.
  • End -to -end transparency: Employers receive information about the Carrum suppliers network and the prices in advance to know what they are paying.

“If it is a current customer, it has a spreadsheet that you get with all these locations, all prices, all transparent in advance,” he said in an interview. “As the employer who pays for all this attention, you know exactly what suppliers are going to go, know exactly what he will pay in advance.”

Looking towards the future, Carrum aims to continue expanding its network, including pregnancy attention. Potalia, hopes to have 95% of Americans near Carrum’s location.

“There is still a large part of the market that has not yet adopted a COE solution, and we want to make sure that in the coming years, we are presenting a solution to those employers,” Jain said. “But at the same time, beyond self -assured employers, there are other buyers who face similar challenges when it comes to cost, quality and experience for members, whether it is a business book or full -insurance colleagues for all those different interested parties.”

Other specialized care companies include Lantern and Transcarent.
