Israel’s attack on al-Alhi Hospital in Gaza City draws global condemnation | Israel-Palestine conflict News

An Israeli strike prior to the Hospital of Al-Ahli in the city of Gaza, the last important hospital that provides critical health in northern Gaza, has caused condemnation in Palestine and worldwide as facilitated by Israel.

Israel said Sunday that he hit a Hamas command and control center in the hospital, without providing evidence, while Hamas denied the accusations.

The episcopal or Jerusalem diocese, which runs the Al-Ahli hospital, condemned the attack, saying that it happened on “Ramos Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week, the most sacred week of the Christian year.”

He said that the twin strikes demolished the two -story genetic laboratory of the hospital and damaged the pharmacy and buildings of the emergency department.

The Superior Presidential Committee for Church affairs in Palestine, which is affiliated with the Anglican Church, said the attack constituted “a serious violation of religious holiness and the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law.”

The head of the Committee, Ramzi Khoury, said that the attack was immediately related to Palestinian Christians and the global Christian community.

The York Archbishop of Brita Brittany, Stephen Cottrell, said in a statement on Sunday: “The Ahli hospital, administered by Anglicans in Gaza, is a place of healing and care for the Palestinians who live an unimaginable suffering. In insufficient conditions, their heroic doctors and nurses have taken care of civilians who have endured 18 months of devastating violence.”

“For the only Christian hospital in Gaza to be attacked in Palm Sunday, it is especially terrible. I share the pain of our Palestinian brothers and sisters in the diocese of Jerusalem,” he said.

The Gaza Ministry of Health said the bombing forced the evacuation of patients and personnel. “We call on international institutions and the relevant authorities that protect the health sector in accordance with international laws and agreements,” he said in a statement.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) said that the “atrocious aggression” was “part of a systematic series of attacks aimed at hospitals, schools, shelters and tents for those displaced in Gaza, in the context of a systematic system and extermination.” “

PiJ blamed Israel for sowing panic between patients and staff issuing a warning shortly before the strike. “International silence in Gaza is forcing him to become a cemetery for law and humanity,” he added.

International condemnation: ‘Attacks against medical care must stop’

Hospitals have special protection under international law. Israel has besieged and raided the nuncabernea, sometimes, and hit multiple while accused of using them as coverage for their combatants. Last month, Israel hit Nasser hospital in Khan Youis, the largest hospital in southern Gaza, killing two people and causing a great fire.

The general director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the hospital was out of service and that a child had died as a result of the interruption of care.

The hospital was also forced to transfer 50 patients to other health centers, but 40 critical patients could not be transferred, Tedros added.

“Attacks against medical care must stop,” wrote the OMS chief in X. “Once again, we repeat: patients, health workers and hospitals must be protected. The blockade of the aid must be an elevator. The high fire.”

British Foreign Minister David Lammy said that the bombardment of Israel medical facilities had “degraded access to medical care” in the enclave.

“The Al-Ahli hospital has been repeatedly attacked since it begged the conflict. These deplorable attacks must end. The no more spilled diplomacy is how we will achieve lasting peace,” Lammy wrote in X.

Qatar said that the attack on the last functional hospital in northern Gaza was a “horrible massacre and an atrocious crime against civilians” that constituted a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned about the expansion of the cycle of violence throughout the region and said that the international community must assume its responsibilities in the protection of civilians.

Jordan also condemned the attack, as well as the systematic orientation of Israel civilians in Gaza and the destruction of vital facilities that provide essential services to their population.

Egypt also issued a statement, qualifying the attack a serious violation of international humanitarian law and international norms and requesting the intervention of the international community by stopping attacks.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock questioned the modalities of the strike, but could not condemn the attack. “Hamas’ cruel terror must be combined. But international humanitarian law is applied, with a special obligation to protect civil areas. How can a hospital be evacuated in less than 20 minutes?” He asked in an X publication.
