A former banker and an alleged accomplice of a dishonored legal row, Alex Murdah, agreed to a statement of guilt to help with some of his financial crimes.
The judicial records obtained by WCIV show that Russell Laffitte declared himself guilty of several federal fraud charges last week and will spend five years in prison.
The records show that Laffitte also agreed to pay $ 3,55,884.80 in criminal restitution. In addition, the bank’s former CEO will not be able to work in any bank or credit cooperative insured by the Federal Government without its prior consent.
At the time of crimes, Cowardly served as CEO of Palmetto State Bank and supposedly used its position to carry out the schemes. He also acted as a curator or financial representative of Murdah’s personal injury clients.

Laffitte’s family founded the bank in 1907 in the same rural city of Hampton, South Carolina, where the Murdough would also reach prominence.

Laffitte was sentenced almost seven months after the sentence to seven years in prison and was ordered to pay $ 3.5 million in restitution.
However, Laffitte’s sentence was exaggerated in November 2024 when an appeal court determined that the elimination of two jurors was abused and violated the rights of the fifth amendment of Laffitte.
Laffitte was fired from the bank shortly after the accusations came to light that she helped Murdough’s lawyer and Murdough, friend and fourth partner of the university, Cory Fleming, stole a legal client called Hakeem L. Pinckney, Rodkney Rollete Rollete, seriously injured the members of her family.

A judge ordered Murdough and Fleming to pay millions to an insurance company in January 2025 after they conspired to steal around $ 4 million in insurance funds from the family of their home after their death.
