The Telangana government issued an order on the implementation of the categorization of scheduled castes (SC) on Monday, which makes it the first state in the country to do so, said Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy.

The Telangana government had previously appointed a commission headed by the retired judge from the Superior Court, Judge Shameem Akther in the SC categorization, which made recommendations that the 59 scheduled caste communities (SC) were divided into three groups namely, II and III for total 15 percent reserves in jobs and government education.

“The following law of the Telangana Legislature received the assent from the governor of Telangana on April 8, 2025 and said assent is first published on April 14, 2025 in the Telangana Gazette to obtain general information,” said the GO.

The Issue of GO coincides with the birth anniversary of Br Ambedkar, architect or Indian Constitution.

The compliance with the report of the Commission, Grupo-I One that includes 15 social, economic and educational SC communities, receive 1 percent reservations.

Group II, including 18 moderately benefited SC communities, a 9 percent quota is demonstrated, while Group III comprising 26 SC communities of significant sheet, receive 5 percent reservations.

Going to a press conference, Minister Reddy, who led a SC categorization subcommittee, said the first copy of the GO was given the main minister to Revanth Reddy this morning.

“As of today, from this moment on, the SC categorization will be implemented in Telangana in Employana and Education. We have issued a GO in that sense and we will cool the first copy to the CM,” he told journalists.

“Telangana is the first state to implement the SC categorization after the verdicts of the Supreme Courts,” said Reddy.

The minister alleged that the previous governments in Telangana just approved resolutions for categorization and never advance.

In addition, he said that all labor vacancies in the state government will now be filled according to the subcategorization of SCS.

The irrigation minister also said that the cabinet subcommittee did an extensive exercise to collect the opinion of all interested parties.

Hey, also said that if the population of SC rises in the 2026 census, reserves for this would increase.

The Telangana Legislature in February accepted Judge Akther’s recommendations in the SC categorization, rejecting advice that the creamy shoulder of the layer must be exempt from the reserves.

The program of scheduled castes (reservation rationalization), 2025 were approved last month. The Supreme Court gave a verdict last year in favor of categorization.
