Gutting social security is not “efficient”, it is a broken promise. Democrats and Republicans must stand up and fight to protect it.
Social security is not charity. The Americans pay, payment check after the payment check, on a lifetime of hard work. When they become older, they recover that money to help them withdraw. That is the promise covered with iron, to carry out that the United States does workers.
But at this time, Social Security is under attack like never before. Billonario’s Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, said older adults complained if they lose a social security check. Elon Musk called Social Security the “largest ponzi scheme.” Then, Musk sent to his government efficiency department (Doge) to gut the agency for indiscriminate workers, closing the offices and trying to reduce telephone services.

What does it mean to cut staff and services without rhythm or reference? Two things: more errors in delivering checks to Americans and less workers to correct those mistakes. And when people do not receive their checks, that is a cut for the benefits they have won.
Errors are already appearing. After Doge had Social Security in his hands, Ned, a retiree from the state of Washington, was marked “dead” in the social security system, despite being very alive. He had $ 5,000 for benefits taken directly from his bank account (paid while he was “dead”) and his monthly checks ceased. Ned spent week trying to correct the error and still has the Gothic paid for two months of missing checks.
Or take Tom and Chris from Westborough, Massachusetts, whose son has autism. For years, disability benefits through Social Security have helped pay their attention. And for years, those benefits have arrived on time, without fail. But when they verified the social security account of their recent child, its benefits had been completed. Without explanation, I only stopped. The possible money came, but took panic on how the invoices would pay.
And although people do not receive their checks, there are fewer Social Security workers to help solve problems. The reduction of the personnel and the closure of the regional offices are forced to drive hours to obtain help with their applications or the missing benefits. Once they arrive at an office, the lines can be out of the door. They wait hours before they can get help, if they receive help.
Who is Trump’s choice to supervise Social Security?
Elon Musk and Dege affirm that the reason why they pirate the social security of people is to reduce the “extreme levels of fraud”, saying that dozens of millions of dead people over 100 are receiving payments. But the interim administrator of the equally current social security, Leland Dudek, established by Donald Trump in February, contradicts that statement.
Here is the thing: if Elon Musk and Doge really want to cut the waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government, there are easy ways to do so. I face 30 suggestions that would reduce $ 2 billion in government waste. Destroying Social Security administration to work worse for our elders, veterans and Americans with disabilities is not one of those forms.

But not just take it off. President George W. Bush’s Social Security Administration Commissioner said that if Elon Musk and Doge wanted to make changes to increase efficiency in the agency, they could, “but we are doing it in the way in which the 22 -year -old fraternity boyos and that is wrong.”

Musk himself said that if he is honest enough to admit his own mistakes, why not reveal the course? Instead of recognizing that Dege’s acquisition of Social Security is only harming Americans, it is duplicating, also encouraging President Trump to make the same false statements. President George W. Bush’s Social Security Commissioner described him as “a real bad service to President Trump.” More importantly, it is a bad service for the American people.

We should cut social security services and threaten the benefits of Americans: we should make the program stronger. People fight with the high prices of heaven while their retirement savings evaporate. We need a temporary increase in benefits at this time to relieve people. We must also protect the long -term security of the system raising the limit for the amount that millionaires and billionaires pay to Social Security, which would also produce enough money to permanently expand the benefits.

Now now, as the agency destroying the agency, it has become a key part of the administration’s agenda, Republicans know that Doge’s “efficiency” mission does not work. They are seeing long lines reports in offices, long waiting on the phone and the website is blocked from their own components in places like Arizona, Indiana and Pennsylvania. So where are they? Why are the Democrats the only ones concerned about what happens with Social Security?
Social Security is not something we deliver for the goodness of our hearts. It is something that Americans won over a lifetime of hard work, an Ironclad contract they can count. Now, Donald Trump, Musk and Doge are trying to jump that contract and call it “efficient.” But it is not efficiency: it is a broken promise for the American people, and the Democrats and the Republicans must stand up and defend themselves.
