2025 NFL Draft: Ranking the safeties in this year’s draft

No safety has been set up in the first round of the NFL design since 2022, when three of them came off the board. This safety class 2025 has the chance to change it with two potential first round caliber players. This prospect group has star power at the top and attractive talent in the middle rounds.

A group of design analysts from SB Nation of our 32 NFL team communities ranked their top security in the design, and this top 10 is the result of the cumulative rankings.

Our rankings are broken for you by Fanduel Sportsbook. Register today.

10. Malachai Moore, Alabama

Moore is a double team captain for the Crimson Tide and Provid Quality Production during his 46 total starts during his career. Moore is better in coverage than support, but are versatile for high safety or nickel adds value to the schedule of each team.

9. Lathan Ransom, Ohio State

Ransom has five years of playing experience with the national Buckeyes champion. It is more suitable for a strong safety where he can excel as a physical player and Toon-Setter while descending.

8. Jonas Saint, Virginia

Sanker has a natural nose for football and puts the Linebacker type Tack figures from the safety position in the past two seasons. Sanker has the measurable to develop into a starter at the NFL level, but can immediately contain ACE with special teams.

7. Sebastian Castro, Iowa

A voter had him fourth, but everyone else had him muum lower. Iowa Sems to pump a tow -worthy DB every year, and Castro is the next in line. He misses the athletics that sub of his colleagues, but his football information and aggressive playing style are the next level.

6. Billy Bowman Jr., Oklahoma

Bowman’s biggest knock is his size (5’10 ”), but his playing ability and football instincts cannot be denied. His size will probably push him a bit off the design board, but Bowman has the skills to find his way in a starting position early in his career.

5. Kevin Winston JR, Penn State

Winston has only 16 games to start experience at collegial level, mainly because of the impression of Ankle, I suffered them. He has the prototypic size of an NFL safety, but he is a raw prospect that still has to develop. His athletic properties fit well with him when attacking the line of scrimmage, but his coverage skills and game recognition need more repetitions.

4. Andrew Mukaba, Texas

Mukaba is an athletic safety that has four years of starter experience at a large university program. I have at his best if he can have his cover Savviness guided to where he should be. His flexible footwork and transitions brought him in affordable positions to shine Hist Superb Ball skills.

3. Xavier Watts, Notre Dame

Watts received the second place votes, but received no voices in the first place of our panel. Watts was a Connsus All-American in 2023 and 2024 and has the production to support it. The Notre Dame -striking is the definition of a “Ball Hawk”, which disappoints 13 in the past two seasons. Watts must come on day 2 of the design of the board and will contribute immediately.

2. Nick Emmanwori, South Carolina

Emmanwori is perhaps the biggest freak athlete that is once as a safety at the NFL combine. There are not comparable to his athletic skills – he is in his own class. He has the properties to excel in the box, but he does not always play with a destructive mindset. I think his coverage skills are much better than most give him the honor. Emmanwori has the athletic skills to become an elite NFL player, but the unlocking of that potential will depend on the refinement of his football -IQ. He barely avoided a draw with Starks for the first place.

1. Malaki Starks, Georgia

Starks walked Ammawori at the slankest margins for first place. Starks does not have the athletics that Emmanwori does, but is enough competent enough to keep his. I have a general and unchanging way how walks try to attack the defense and gets routinely in good positions to make plays. Starks can be used for deep safety over the top and also help support run. His versatility and playing ability should have him at a starting place from the moment he is drawn up.
