Trump aims to tackle soaring Medicare prescription drug prices in new executive order

President Donald Trump seeks to combat the high prices of prescribed medications in a new executive order signed on Tuesday.

The order indicates that the Department of Human Health and Services of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (DHS) to standardize Medicare payments for prescription medications, including those used for cancer patients, regardless of where a patient receives treatment. This could reduce prices for patients by up to 60%, according to an informative sheet of the White House.

Similarly, the order also calls to coincide with the payment of Medicare for certain medications prescribed at the price that hospitals pay for these medications, up to 35% lower than the government pays to acquire medicines, said the White House.
