Looking at recent history, it has been a struggle in terms of which teams reach the final of the conference.
Last season no. 1 Boston faced No. 6 Indiana in the east and no. 3 Minnesota faced No. 5 Dallas in the West.
The season before was no. 2 Boston opposite No. 8 Miami in the east and no. 1 Denver is opposed to the No. 7 Los Angeles Lakers in the west.
In fact, the 1-Seed in both conferences combined the conference only made four times, dating from 2020 (2024 Boston, 2023 Denver, 2022 Miami, 2020 Los Angeles Lakers).
In the same time span, six teams fifth or lower reached the final of the conference.
Are the Lakers upset alert versus the Timberwolves?
In the thermers of this season, the top seeds in the west, the Thunder, are very intense to make the final of the conference, against which of the four teams it makes it from the other side of the bracket.
In the east, however, the second placed Celtics are involved in three of the four potential conference final matchups with the shortest opportunities to happen.
