Dion Sanders had an idea that threatened to vitalize a sport that was missing and has become impatient with showing nerve, especially in the spring. He has changed that all.
The moment the traditional spring match is very similar to a relaxation and the stimulus to play then, even a glorified flag football match, Coach Prime said that he would like his Colorado Buffalos to play a valuable opponent on folsom Field, and he was the here to do this.
He is not the first person to have this idea, but he is one of the few with the audacy and the credibility to say that as a sitting Power 4 -head coach who expects to play for championships. Within a few hours after publishing his proclamation, Syracuse coach Fran Brown picked up what Prime laid down and made it clear that his team was willing to spend three days in Boulder. The idea was to have joint practices that culminated in a spring match that would be broadcast nationally on television on Saturday.
But before the two program could pay, they had to submit themselves to the distance of the NCAA together. At the time of submission, both parties were convinced that such a request would be granted. But the NCAAs Football Oversight Committee denied their requirement on the basis of late timing, a perceced recruitment advantage and the potential impact on the academic performance of their respective athletes.
Each of the reasons is small and ninsenic. Athletes lack the class for games. The recruitment benefit is negligible, especially in view of the impact of NIL on that process, and the timing was early enough for both the university and the athletic department to realize this unique company.
So, why did the supervisory committee really refused this request?
“We should have just told the coach [Bill] Belichick and Bill O’Brien to eat with it, “Brown said earlier these months in an interview.” You know … they were over their bodies. “
Brown’s comments were taken by me as “playful” or “joke”, but in a recent interview with Sanders, the Third-Ryear Colorado head coach made it clear that Brown’s comments should not be lightly, and that he is fully planning to play a play, a play against Syracuse, next year, next year.
“Yes, we’re going to get it done,” Sanders told FOX Sports. “And we managed to do it. And I agree with Fran, we would have managed it if we didn’t say it first.
Sanders went on.
“We should have allowed other boys to say it first, and it would have driven Probablay. But if you dropped two Unpologetic African-American men, it is a bit difficult to put them out of the front schola what they are going to say because you know you can” control them.
It was a hit. It hurt. And yet there is coach Prime, who tries to find a way to give a negative responsibility to the opportunity to adapt and take advantage.
“We’re going to lose spring matches, man and everyone takes a blow,” said Sanders. “We are now taking a hit except for ticketing Beckales, you could have that potential [spring game]And then hear that it is not going to happen. It is a huge low point. So what do people want now? I have to find a way to be near them, to touch them, to feel, to make them feel like the part of the program. “
**** **** ****
There is the Dispenser of Californian almonds that remains active on Coach Prime’s desk, the kind that a man who is activated as much as he is can use great use. Sanders believes that he was stranded for a place like Colorado University to make someone else and use his unique skills to reverse the program.
“I am a human man,” said Sanders. “I don’t see to be enormously wrong. I see where I am doing this well. Always done, even in my own career.”
Check the coupons.
Sanders won two SWAC titles in Jackson State, made two performances in the Celebration Bowl, Broucht National Television to Jackson, Mississippi, for one Spring Game of A HBCU, and left with a record of 27-6 after 11-2 and 12-1 in back-to-back years.
Then in short order I used his wonderful football center, marketing cell dedeness and endorsement of people to not only change a two-win Colorado team in 2022 in a team of nine win in 2024, but also develop into Heisman Trophy winner and maybe two first round selections in Colorado.
Giants were important about the preparation of Shedersur Sanders with ‘shadow’ of Deion

After that success, Sanders’ name was linked to jobs in the NFL, where the Dallas Cowboys was noticed, an organization for which he played from 1995-99 and won a super bowl. But in the end coach Prime made the decision to stay in Colorado.
It was now doubting that he was used in Boulder after his sons, sheath door and Shilo, as well as Price Submit Travis Hunter, had ended their time at the university and continued their NFL dreams. I admitted that I was surprised by the number of people who doubted that he would stay in Colorado.
“I don’t know why it’s a surprise,” said Sanders. “I tell people all the time, I’m not going anywhere. I think you believe me now.
And he took care of those people. In addition to defensive coordinator Robert Livingston who earns an extension of two years, coach Prime Marshall Faulk added to a staff with Byron Leftwich and Warren Sapp, giving the Buffaloes three Pro Football Hall of Fame players on their staff. Sanders also enriches the life of his players with windfalls that run the range of celebrities, from Champ Baily to Denzel Washington. The latter tolerated the team to send him cards to the national title game.
“I just wanted to make sure that everyone had flown in – and that they took care of me,” said Sanders.
The University of Colorado showed their appreciation for what Sanders offers by rewarding him with a contract extension so that he will earn more than $ 10 million annually, making him the best -paid black coach in the history of the university football.
Deion Sanders draws massive five -year extension with Colorado

Sanders is only the second black coach in the history of the University Football that leaves a head coaching job at HBCU for an FBS program. The first was Willie Jeffries, who became the first black coach at Division-I or FBS level, which was named head coach in Wichita State in 1979.
That is how long it took, 43 years, for Subson Anders Black or African American on their driver’s license to make the jump from HBCU to FBS.
But just as he tried to set a new precedent by playing an opponent in a spring football match, Sanders did the same when it comes to coaches who made the switch from an HBCU to the FBS level.
Former Ohio State Great Eddie George made the leap from Tennessee State to Bowling Green earlier this year. George, who was the recipient of the trophy heisman from 1995, saw what Sanders did in Jackson State and Belient that I could do the same for the Tsu Tigers.
In the past four months, former lectures and NFL greats Michael Vick and wishes have become Jackson’s head coaches at HBCUs and, if they are successful at that level, also have to be at the Prime and George level at FBS level.
These left to be celebrated.
While many enjoy the success of George, Vick, Jackson and their programs, Sanders still works to make the unpoor experience in Colorado. In 2025 he will coach a team where none of his children will play for the first time, but his expectations remain the same.
“I want to win it all,” said Sanders. “I mean, this city, this state, this institution has not only been good for me, but they have been good for my children, my family, my friends and loved ones, and we welcome America in our house. That, and I’m going to give it all.”
The 57-year-old Sanders, who is completely unique, believes that he can bring a national title to Boulder. You have followed so far. So let me ask me: do you still doubt that he can do it?
