Texas GOP could stall Trump’s bold AI vision with red tape

The high -tech moon shooting of President Donald Trump can reach a speed stroke of the Texas size and comes from his own party.

The Trump AI initiative, called “Stargate”, aims to build 20 ultra enhanced data centers throughout the country. Backed by heavyweights such as Openai, Oracle, Softbank and the MGX financed by the EAU, the project rephes to a bet of $ 500 billion in the future with Texas chosen as the zero zone for the first 10 centers.

But a new Texas bill, bill 6 of the Senate, could delay or derail that impulse.

The legislation adds a regulatory review of six months in addition to an existing timeline from 6 to 18 months, while requireing new tariffs and mandatory backup generators, doubling the approval time and inflates costs.

And while the legislation is presented as a safeguard against another blackout in the style of the winter storm, Trump’s allies warn that it could torpedo a generational opportunity.

“This bill would be a serious obstacle to the president’s vision,” said Vance Ginn, president of Ginn Economic Consulting and former chief economist of the White House Administration and Budget Office, Trump’s first mandate, in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital.

“It is a disintegrating effort that is based on fear: fear of energy shortage, fear of AI, fear of the future.”

According to Ginn, the intense requirements of the invoice, including a $ 100,000 grid connection rate and a so -called “murder switch” that would allow the electrical reliable or Texas council to reduce energy to the data centers, could understand them.

“These companies not only use energy,” Ginn said. “Many of them reales again placed excess electricity in the grid. Then, instead of hurting Texas, they help stabilize it.”

Stargate has already broken in Abilene, but the next 10 data centers are still in the air. If Texas becomes too expensive or complicated, experts warn that the posterior half of the project will never happen, also as rival states such as Wyoming and Tennessee Court companies without Texas infrastructure.

The Chief of Science and Technology of the White House warns that China is ‘updating’ in the AI race

“The Texas Legislature should be working at closing with President Trump to build AI infrastructure, not throwing barriers,” Ginn added. “The AI revolution is here. If Texas will run into this, it will be left behind.”

The sponsor of the bill, Lieutenant Governor of Texas, Dan Patrick, insists that the legislation won the Trump agenda. “The Senate bill 6, really ensures that President Trump’s Stargate Plan is a success,” said Patrick in a statement. “We are at the closing of the president in his goal of making the United States and dominating China in AI, data centers and cryptocurrency.”

Even with Trump’s support for Patrick’s re -election, economists aligned by Trump say the state is playing a dangerous game.

“We are already seeing signs of this,” Ginn warned. “Microsoft has retired projects. Investors are nervous. And meanwhile, China is advancing.”

A Chinese startup called Depseek has reached the headlines to implement avant -garde models in record time, which causes fresh anxiety about the United States position in the global arms race of AI.

“It’s not just about innovation,” Ginn said. “This is national security. If we are six months from China, we may never get up to date.”

Trump has supported his impulse of AI with a hard policy, including a general rate of 10% over all imports and an elevated 125% tariff on Chinese products, announced last week. But these rates could also increase the price of the key components of the data center, from steel to electric transformers.

Despite the compensation, the Trump administration sees Stargate as a cornerstone of the American leadership of the 21st century in everything, from education to medical care.
