Hotel chains are developing resorts near the next tourism prospects at Bhogapuram airport on the coast of Andhra Pradesh.

In the last two weeks, the minor hotels based in Thailand and the local brand Mayfair Hotels have announced mixed use projects that include resorts, residences and other facilities.

Minor Hotels has linked Sunray Resorts to introduce its Advance + Fire Superior in India. The two groups signed an agreement to launch 117 Key Resort near Bhogapuram airport at the event of the Hotel Investment Conference in South Asia in Mumbai last week. Next to the complex, the project will also have 58 brand residences and a golf course.

“We are looking to open the complex in the next 24-30 months. We see great potential since the next airport will traction to incoming trips,” said Vijay Krishnan-Vazhvelil, Vice President of Operations (India), minor hotels.

Known for its beaches and temples, the Visakhapatnam region contributed 24 percent to the tourist entrance of Andhra Pradesh in 2023. “The next Bhogapuram airport, along with significant investments in hospitality and adventure, Asakapatanamshapatab and business travelers,” said the consultant JLL in a report in a past report.

Naturally, hotel chains are excited.

“We see Bhogapuram as a promising emerging destination, particularly with its proximity to the coast, which lends itself well to beach tourism. We certainly see that this is a potential investment opportunity and are actively locors,” said Rajesh Ranjan, senior vice president (Development), Sarovar Hotels.
