Sen. Van Hollen denied meeting in El Salvador with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, man mistakenly deported from U.S.

Maryland’s senator hopes to see Abrego Garcia

Senator Van Hollen said he hoped to meet with the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele. Instead, with Vice President Félix Ulloa on Wednesday. Unjust deportation of Kilmar Abrego García

“Abrego García is legal in the United States,” said Van Hollen. “An immigration judge found years ago that he would put his life in danger if he was returned to El Salvador.”

Abrego García was arrested for customs and immigration control of the United States (ICE) in March when he left his job in Baltimore, Maryland and returned home in Prince George County. On March 15, he was deported to El Salvador on a plane with more than 200 migrants than Trump administration statements had gang affiliations.
