Indian stock markets closed for Good Friday, Asian markets see gains

Indian stock markets are closed on Friday due to Good Friday’s holidays. However, other Asian markets continued their ascending trend, with key rates that publish profits.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 index increased by 0.66 percent, Taiwan’s weighted index won 0.58 percent, and the South Korea Kospi also increased 0.27 percent at the time of this report.

In addition to the thesis, other Asian markets closed due to vacations.

At home, several companies are scheduled to announce their earnings from the fourth quarter today. These include Just Dial, Mastek, Network 18 Media & Investments, Laxmi Goldornna House, Amal, Yaari Digital Integrated Services, Teamo Productions and Jay Kailash Namkeen. On Thursday, Indian markets experienced significant activities of foreign investors. According to the data of April 17, 2025, foreign institutional investors (FII) or foreign portfolio investors (FPI) were net buyers in the cash segment. They bought shares worth 18,210.41 million rupees and Sares worth RS 13,542.47 million rupees, which resulted in a net entrance of RS 4,667.94 million rupees.

In contrast, national institutional investors (DII) were net sellers. They bought shares worth ₹ 13,773.79 million rupees and sold shares worth ₹ 15,779.94 million rupees, which resulted in a net exit of ₹ 2,006.15 million rupees.

Sensex closed more in 1508.91 pts or 1.96 percent to 78,553.20, and NIFTY 50 increased 414.45 points or 1.77 percent to 23,851.65. All sector rates ended in green.

Meanwhile, the signs of the global market are still mixed. The US stock futures presented a mixed image. Dow Jones Futures fell sharply by 521.0 points or 1.32 percent to 39148. However, Nasdaq’s futures obtained more than 30.0 points or 0.17 percent to 18287.

In Europe, the main indices were also quoted in the Emergency Department. Cac futures in France decreased by 33.0 points or 0.45 percent to 7298. Future Dax of Germany fell into 145.0 points or 0.68 percent to 21331.

The FTSE future of the United Kingdom also fell into 35.0 points or 0.42 percent to 8242. With the closed Indian markets, investors will closely observe the trends of the global market and the earnings ads for the signals when the trade resumes on Monday.
