Martin Scorsese unravels Mary Magdalene’s complex legacy in ‘The Saints’ finale

The final episode of the powerful Fox Nations series “The Saints” has arrived in enough time to start the Easter weekend, closing the most sacred week of the year of Christianity with the history of St. Mary Magdalene, told by nothing less than that

The story takes the spectators to Galilea from the first century, where a young Mary Magdalene probably lived alone in a small fishing village in the near sea.

Some details about their life are still ambiguous. According to Scorsese, who narrates the series, can have a leg widow. It is possible that he has inherited money, or can have a “maintained woman”, which means that a man can have finance supported in exchange for a sexual relationship.

“The idea that it was a real prostitute originated hundreds of years after his death,” Scorsese explained in the episode.

According to the gospels, this patron saint of converts once plagued demons.

“If they were physical or spiritual,” said Scorsese, “nobody knows …”

For those who grew in a Christian, Catholic or Protestant home, the story of Mary Magdalena was reinforced in biblical teachings, rebuilt of the gospels.

She was a follower of Christ, witness of her crucifixion and resurrection, and, although the claim is disputed, many is consulted by many of having a sexual figure that became a lighthouse of grace and redemption.

While the episode explores, the vague and fragmented pieces of its history became more lucid over time.

This complex history follows in the final episode of the second part of “The Saints”, which returned to the Fox Nation platform for the Lent season, with canonized legends as San Francisco de Asís and San Moisés el Negro, in addition to St. Mary Magdalene.

“The Saints” originally premiered last November, launching episodes that focused on the life of other famous Christian figures such as Joan of Arc, John the Baptist, Sebastian and Maximilian Kolbe converted the Christian season of Advent.
