MLB news: Rangers’ pitcher nearly misses start with suspected spider bite

The titular launch of the Texas Rangers, Patrick Corbin, was not a guarantee to begin his 3-1 victory over Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday.

Corbin, 35, entered the Rangers Club House on Wednesday with a swollen ankle, after being bitten by an insect on Monday.

“It was really bad in the morning,” Corbin told journalists on Thursday afternoon. “I was sure if I was going to launch.”

“I could barely walk when I entered. I don’t know if it was a spider or what,” said Rangers manager Bruce Bochy. ” Some child or poison entered there. I’m not sure it was a spider or what. He had 50/50 about whether or not he would start, “Bochy said through MLB.com.

Corbin received treatment before the game and started. He released 5 1/3 tickets, while he gave only one race with five hits and struck out six batters and won the victory.

The Rangers signed at Corbin at the end of spring training while dealing with injuries in their initial rotation. They signed the left -handed pitcher on March 18.

Corbin is in its 13th MLB season. He spent the first six seasons of his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks and made the National League team twice.

After six seasons with the Diamondbacks, Corbin spent the next six seasons with Washington’s nationals after signing a six -year contract with the team before 2019.

Corbin was an integral part of the duration of the team’s release personnel in his playoff career in 2019, when the nationals won the World Series on the Houston stars.

The next game of the Rangers (12-7) is against the Dodgers of Los Angeles (14-6) on Friday at 8:05 pm et on Friday.
