A Guatemalan citizen who resides in the United States illegally has been accused of his supposed role in the smuggling of a 14 -year -old girl to the country.
Juan Tiul XI, 26, was accused of Thorsday for allegedly convincing a 14 -year -old girl to enter the US illegally, according to a statement from the Department of Justice (DOJ). Tiul XI is also accused or presents a sponsorship application that contains false statements to obtain custody of the adolescent.
“The border policies of the previous administrations created an environment that allowed people trafficking and allowed bad actors to take advantage of children at risk,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi in a statement. “We are committed to protecting the children from the scourge of human traffic and we will not rest until we gave justice to those who suffered the border crisis.”

Tiul XI supposedly entered the United States illegally under the Biden administration in 2023. The Department of Justice alleges that after illegally entering the country, Tiul XI encouraged the adolescent to say that she was her sister. According to the reports, the Office of Refugee Rease of the Department of Health and Human Services (ORR) was based on the false statements of Tiul Xis to free the adolescent under their custody on September 5, 2023.

The Department of Justice says that Tiul XI is accused of a charge of encouraging or inducing illegal entry to obtain financial profits, a position to make a false, fictitious or frudulent statement, and a position of theft of aggravated identity. If he is guilty, hefaces up to 10 years in prison for encouraging illegal entry, up to 5 years for the false statement and 2 years for the position of identity theft, according to the Department of Justice.
“This case is a commitment of will to hold predators responsible for the damage they inflict children,” said the interim director of immigration and fulfillment of the customs of the United States, Todd Lyons.

The interim director of Orr, Angie M. Salazar, said that the office “significantly increased” her sponsors’ research process that now prioritizes “the welfare of the child.”
“We hope that our commitment will be obvious for our collaboration with the Police of the correct previous mistakes and help to bring to light the thesis crimes,” Salazar said in a Press statement from the DOJ about the accusation of Tiul XI.
The case is part of the operation of the Take Back America Department of Justice, which according to the Department of Justice aims to combat “the threats and continuous risks that the American people chose President Trump to address.”
