A London Diamond League of 60,000 exhausted this summer demonstrates the thirst for athletics in the British capital
The Athletics of the United Kingdom, the events of the London Marathon and the Great Company have asked the Government to financially support London’s offer to organize the World Athletics Championship in 2029.
The three organizations, which recently joined forces under the title of athletic companies, delivered their message to the government on the same day when the Diamond League was announced in London in 50 days would be sold with 60,000 missing tickets.
“This is even more proof that athletics in the United Kingdom delivers at all levels,” said Hugh Brasher, event director of the London Marathon and Co -founder of Athletic Ventures.
“We sell stadiums. We deliver global moments. And we do it with a commercial and community model that drives growth and long -term legacy. The support of London 2029 makes economic and strategic sense. With the support of the government behind the offer, we can offer a world championship that inspires a generation and generates more than 400 million in impact.
The sale of the sale is heated after the record of 2025 TCS London Marathon, the largest ever held anywhere in the world, with more than 56,000 finalists and more than £ 250 million in a projected economic impact and adds weight to the campaign to take the world athletic championships back to the United Kingdom for the first time since 2017.

Athletic Ventures believes that the United Kingdom is now in a stronger position than ever to organize the event again. Its delivery model requires unique public funds in 2028, promises an economic impact throughout the country and is located exclusively in a creative and lasting national legacy. But there is a key component: a government investment of £ 45 million in 2028 to help ensure championships and deliver it to the highest level.
“We are asking the Government to support an offer based on evidence, delivery and impulse,” added Ber. “This is not a speculative point. It is an intelligent and limited investment in a sport that connects all the communities of the country and offers a real economic return. London’s athletics meets, again, it shows that the appetite is there. We are not going to this moment.”
Lady Denise Lewis, president of Athletics of the United Kingdom, said: “The achievements like this remind us how deeply athletics resonates with the British public. A london stadium exhausted is not just a successful store for a single encounter, it is a powerful.
“This has the potential to be another golden was for British Athletics with Koley Hodgkinson, Matt Hudson-Smith, Amber Anning, Jeremiah Azu, Molly Cauderny and More Winning Gold at International Championship, and The Appetite is There, The Infrastite is There, The Infrast. The Infrastite is There, The Lechetite is There, The Lechetite is There.
Sanjay Bhandari, president of Athletic Ventures, added: “A complete stadium is not just a ticket of ticket sales, it is a connection statement. Athletics reaches every corner of our communities, from the base of the whites. Velso.
The formal offer to World Athletics will be presented this September.
