British Olympic 800m women’s champions together for the first time

The golden trio of Ann Packer, Kelly Holmes and Koley Hodgkinson join in The Great Manchester Run on Sunday

Three generations of 800m British Olympic champions with UP for the first time at Great Manchester Run on Sunday (May 18).

“This is the first time we’ve fought together!” Holmes said.

Hodgkinson added: “I also joined the club.”

Packer, who is now 83, said: “When I won, it was the first days of 800m and the sprinters had really entered that event. I was quite comfortable in the first round and then it was a case of hanging home.”

Hodgkinson said: “Paris was all I dreamed … and I was destined to make the 800m at the Olympic Games! I definitely inspired the great women who also came before me.”
