Center has launched guidelines and portal for the electronic component manufacturing scheme (ECM) to develop a solid component ecosystem by attracting large investments, both global and national, in the electronic component manufacturing ecosystem. The Minister of the Union of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, launched the guidelines and portal on April 26.
The Cabinet of the Union, chaired by the Prime Minister, had approved the electronic component manufacturing scheme (ECMS), which was notified on April 8, 2025.
The scheme aims to develop a strong manufacturing capacity and capacities and integrate Indian companies with global value chains (GVC).
Speaking at the launch, the minister of the Union declared that electronic production has grown five times and exports have grown more than six times, with an export cagr that exceeds 20 percent and the production cag of more than 17 percent.
He added that mobile phones, servers, laptops and IT hardware have seen a very strong progress and that the industry is prepared to take off significantly.
Vaishnaw described ECM as a horizontal scheme that will support not only electronics but also industrial, energy, car and more sectors. He stressed that a complete ecosystem for electronic manufacturing is in place throughout the country.
Underline the importance of innovation and quality, the minister said that many companies have established design equipment, and it is essential that each particle develops such teams.
Quality was stressed, asked to achieve SIX SIGMA standards throughout the sector, warning that those who do not adhere to quality reference points would be interrupted. He said that the twin approach in design capacity and quality excellence would boost Indian leadership in electronics.
Vaishnaw also talked about the advances of India in AI and data -based solutions. Hey reported that 350 data sets have already been charged in AI Kosh, and four ia tools developed by IIT will soon be launched.
In addition, he declared that technological solutions are being developed to strengthen the electronic ecosystem.
The minister reported that ECMS has a solid portfolio of projects ready for approval and expressed his confidence that this marks the beginning of India’s rapid growth as a global electronics center.
