The Kashmir tourism is preparing for a hard summer season after Pahalgam’s deadly attack against tourists.

In 2023, Kashmira saw a tourist entrance or about 2.1 million rupees. This number grew to 2.36 million rupees in 2024.

“An incident like this will have an impact on the entire hospitality ecosystem, but with the local population that is solidly behind tourists and security measures improved by the Government, Tourism in Kashmir will bounce, Iatce.

“In the short term, there may be a 30 percent drop. But in the next week, we see that the number of tourists returns to old levels.”

Axis for travel agencies in New Delhi, the immediate consequences have seen an amazing cancellation rate of 90 percent for the Kashmir reserves.

Consequently, around 12,000 reimbursement and cancellation requests with travel portals and agencies have been collected in the last 48 hours, as shown in industry estimates.

In terms of hotels and resorts in Pahalgam and its surroundings, we are witnessing mass cancellations.

“This mass exodus reflects the deeply rooted fear instilled by the attack. There is a significant fall in occupation rates, which leads to substantial losses of income and possible dismissals,” Ved Khanna, member of the Board, Spitite Federation Federation, of Spitite. Business line.

Besids, the attack has paralyzed the local economy, since artisans, merchants and service providers that depend largely on tourism face an uncertain future.

“There will be a devastating impact on these communion-kashmiri shares, paper-mache artisans and dried fruit vendors. This was the season when its inventory moved.

Airline industry

Even the airline industry, which experienced healthy load factors on Srinagar routes duration of the summer season in the last two years, is preparing an impact.

“Unfortunately, tourists will avoid Kashmir Business line.

“Places like Goa, the Northeast, Laksshadweep and Kerala can become substitutes for them. They can also look for affordable international destinations.”

According to the Mark Martin Consulting industry expert, the airlines are expected to deploy their capacity destined for the Srinagar sector elsewhere the summer season.

“The Srinagar sector sector has seen very healthy load factors due to the high demand for traffic and limited capacity. However, this incident could force airlines to redistribute up to 60 percent of the capacity destined for the sector to other routes,” Martin said.

In addition, the former CEO of Alliance Air, Vineet Sood, said that the rapid actions of the Center (Civil Aviation Ministry) of the airlines to add capacity and to limit the rates have normalized the situation for now.
