Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in Delhi has issued public advice warning passengers about possible flight delays on Friday afternoon due to changing wind patterns in their surrounding areas.

In an update published in X, the Delhi airport stated: “Due to the change of wind patterns in the vicinity of the airport, certain operations of the airlines may experience delays.” To administer the situation, air traffic control (ATC) has implemented air traffic flow management measures (ATFM) for incoming flights from 12.30 pm to 4.30 pm IST, aimed at guaranteeing safe operations.

“These protocols are carried out in line with international aviation standards and regulatory guidelines, with the safety of transferred passengers as the main priority,” he said. Despite the notice, the airport clarified that all other operations, including those on the three tracks and terminals, are not affected and operate normally.

“Passengers are recommended to keep in touch with their respective airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules,” the notice added.

The airport authority also issued an apology for the inconveniences and thanked travelers for their patience and cooperation. The notice occurs immediately after a weather update of the Department of Meteorology of India (IMD), which predicted a significant wind activity in Delhi and the NCR region surrounding Friday.

The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms accompanied by light rays and rains in the capital on Saturday and Sunday. Travelers are encouraged to monitor weather updates and coordinate with airlines for real -time flight information, said Delhi airport.

In another publication, Delhi airport said: “Terminal 1 is now completely operational! Enjoy a smarter travel experience with integrated zones, more than 100 check-in, auto-basements, Digiyatra, premium rooms and more.

Airport authorities had previously said that IGI terminal 2 will close to an additional warning.
