Disney Is Laying Off Hundreds of Workers Globally

Disney is saying goodbye to several hundred workers, according to reports in the Wall Street Journal and Deadline. It is the fourth and largest lot of company cuts in the last 10 months.

Deadline reports that most cuts are of the company’s corporate financial operations and the various Disney Entertainment divisions, including marketing, advertising, development and release of Disney’s film and television.

He Wall Street Journal Notes that whole teams were not being eliminated, but the cuts cover divisions worldwide.

Disney, which is based in Burbank, California, would not unlock the exact number of layoffs this week, according to the Los Angeles Times.

In March, the company reduced about 200 jobs, approximately 6% of the news workforce, which mainly affects the ABC news division in New York.

According to a presentation before the SEC, Disney had around 233,000 employees at the end of September 2024. The company has reduced more than 8,000 roles since 2023, according to Bloomberg.

Disney reported Rhan’s best -expected Q2 profits last month.
