GAIL India seeks 26% stake in US LNG project

Gail India LTD issued a tender on Friday to buy up to 26 percent participation in a liquefied natural gas project in the US.

India is running to become one of the first to agree on a commercial agreement with the United States, since the announcement of President Donald Trump of Sweeping Tariff has triggered a commercial war with China and the efforts of other countries to negotiate.

Trump has made it clear that he considers the US gas as a negotiation chip.

The largest gas distributor in India, Gail, has invited the initial offers of the companies, since it seeks to buy capital in an existing LNG license project or a new project that will be in charge from 2030 to latest, showed the document published on its website.

The United States is already the second largest supplier in India, one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Qatar is the largest LNG supplier to India.
