India, Italy seek to enhance ship-tracking cooperation in Indian Ocean to counter China

India and Italy are in conversations to improve the information exchange agreements between the two nations, with special emphasis on the regional Trans Maritime Network (T-RMN), or in which New Delhi became a member in 2018. The objective is to look for details of the ships that are transmitted through the domination of the Chinese vessels.

India is one of the 30 members of T-RMN, led by Italy.

Duration of his two-day visit to Rome, which concluded on April 15, Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, co-presided over the eleventh meeting of the Bilateral Defense Committee of India-Iallia with his Italian counterpart, Secretary General of Defense Luisa Rica Rica Rica Rica.

They discussed a wide range of defense, security and industrial cooperation issues, including maritime cooperation arrangements and information exchange between India and Italy, with emphasis on T-RMN, said the Ministry of Defense.

The exchange of information through T-RMN occurs through the maritime traffic monitoring systems of each member country within the system. The information is shared mutual among the signatory countries to guarantee a preventive and rapid response to any requirement.

The situation in the Red Sea and the Western Ocean region also emerged the discussions between Singh and Riccardi.

His visit begged with Singh by calling Italy’s Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto. The two parties maintained productive discussions aimed at further improving defense cooperation as a key pillar of the Indian strategic association.

The Secretary of Defense emphasized the need for a closer defense collaboration, partly in technological and armament production, which is a priority area for India.

Hey, also stressed that the government of India is proactively building an ecosystem for defense production and innovation within the country through deliberate policies initiatives. India has developed a vibrant innovation and an industrial ecosystem, informed the Italians.

In its main discourse direction, the Round Table of the Indian of Defense of India-Titalia, the Secretary of Defense shared its views on the Indian Defense Industry has witnessed significant changes, partly in recent years, through progressive reforms.

These reforms, said the secretary, have been marked by the creation of an environment conducive to the growth of the Indian industry through transparency, predictability and ease of doing business.

A key culminating point of the visit was the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Society of Defense Manufacturers of India (SIDM) and its Italian counterpart, Aiad, which marked a significant step towards the narrower cooperation between the cooperation of the defaase.

The Mou seeks to promote a sustained commitment, encourage joint companies, facilitation technology associations and boost industrial collaboration among Indian and Italian defense partners.
