India has expressed a strong concern about the kidnapping and the brutal murder of the leader of the Hindu minority Bhabsh Chandra Roy in Bangladesh, qualifying him as a worrying pattern of persecution. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) condemned the incident and urged the interim government in Bangladesh to guarantee the protection of all minorities.
“We have noticed the kidnapping and the brutal murder of Shri Bhabsh Chandra Roy, a Hindu minority leader in Bangladesh,” Randhir Jaiswal, official spokesman for the MEA, published in X (previously Twitter).

Bhabsh Chandra Roy’s postmortem, which was allegedly kidnapped and beaten until death earlier this week in Biral Upazila of the Dinjpur district, Bangladesh has been complete, police said on Saturday. Roy was a resident of the Basudebpur village under the union of Shatagram and served as vice president of the Biral Unit of the Bangladesh parish Puja Udjapan. It was widely respected within the local Hindu community. “It is not yet known what the postmortem report contains,” said Ani Abdus Sabur, an officer in charge of the Biral Police Station by phone.
“We will take measures after obtaining the postmortem report,” he said that the family had not filed the leg. “We are busy with our father’s funeral. That is why no case has been presented,” said Bhabsh’s son, Sapan Roy, Ani.Sapan said: “Four young people in the area came to motorcycles and Tok Bhabsho Roy away from home.”

According to the previous accounts, Bhabsh had received a phone call around 4:30 pm on Wednesday. His wife, Shantana Roy, told the Daily Star that the allegedly call was made by perpetrators to confirm her presence. About 30 minutes later, four men arrived and they touch him. The witnesses said it was tasks for the Narabari village and that they attacked brutally.
That night, his unconscious body was returned to his family in a truck. The locals helped take him to the Health Complex of Biral Upazila and then to the Dinjpur Medical College hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. His body was a sentence for postmortem. Shantana said he could identify two of the attackers. Police said a case is being prepared and efforts are being made to identify and apply those involved.
