India launched on Friday to place small and marginal farmers at the World Agricultural Strategy Center, saying that they cannot face climate change, prices volatility and challenges of scarcity of resources alone.

Speaking at the 15th Meeting of BRICS Agriculture Ministers in Brazil, the Minister of Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, said that world food security objectives would remain breached unless the children are protected and trained.

“We cannot leave Smallholters to combat these challenges alone. They need our political support,” Chouhan said, describing agriculture not only as an economic activity but also a source of “sustenance, food and dignity” for millions.

Chouhan presented to the organizations of farmers producers, organizations of farmers producers, cooperative models and natural agriculture as effective approaches to empower small farmers and improve access to their market, the Ministry of Agriculture in a statement said.

The meeting stressed the need for a fair agricultural trade, the control of the global pricing volatility and the guarantee of remunerative prices for small farmers.

India shared its technological initiatives, including the Mission of Digital Agriculture, Agristack, Drones Technology and Climate Resistant Peoples, explaining how these innovations have improved the provision of services and the income of farmers.

The BRICS Agriculture Ministers launched the “BRICS Land Restoration Association” to address land degradation, desertification and loss of soil fertility.

In their joint statement, BRICs nations promised to make the global agricultural system fair, inclusive, innovative and sustainable with emphasis on food security, climate adaptation and empowerment of women and youth.

Chouhan invited BRICS nations to participate in World Food India 2025 and the World Audiovisual Entertainment Summit 2025 as platforms for innovation and global collaboration.
