A massive explosion and fire shook a port on Saturday in southern Iran, wounding at least 516 people, state television reported.

The explosion occurred in the port of Shahid Rajahei on the outskirts of Bandar Abbas, an important installation for container shipments for the Islamic Republic.

The social networks videos showed black and undulating smoke after the explosion. Others showed blushed glasses from buildings from the epicenter of the explosion.

The authorities did not offer reasons for the explosion hours later, the thought videos suggested that what ignited in the port was very fuel.

Industrial accidents occur in Iran, particularly in their largest oil facilities that fight for access to pieces under international sanctions. But the Iranian state television specifically ruled out any energy infrastructure as a cause or damaged in the explosion.

Mehrad Hasanzadeh, a provincial official of Disaster Management, told Iranian State TV that he first responds that they tried to reach the area while others tried to evacuate the site.

Hasanzadeh said the explosion came from containers in the port of Rajahei in the city, without elaborating. State TV also reported that a collapse of the building caused by the explosion had one leg, although there were no other immediate details.

The port of Rajaei is 1,050 km from the southeast or the capital of Iran, Tehran, in the hormuz narrow, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf through which 20 percent of all commercial oil passes.

The explosion occurred as Iran and the United States with Saturday in Oman for the third round of negotiations on the nuclear program that advances quickly from Tehran.
