Iran and the United States prepared on Saturday for a second round of negotiations on the nuclear program that advances quickly in Tehran in Rome.
The conversations in Italy about Easter weekend will depend on the American billionaire Steve Witkoff, the envoy of the president of the United States of President Donald Trump and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Iraní, Abbas Araghchi.
If the two men find a common land in high -risk negotiations, they could mean success or failure in conversations.
That the conversations are only happening represent a historical moment, given the decades of enmity between the two countries, the Islamic Revolution of 1979 and the hostage crisis of the United States Embassy.
Trump in his first term was unilaterally withdrew from the Iran Nuclear Agreement with the world powers in 2018, digging up years of attacks and negotiations that could not restore the agreement that Drastic limited the enrichment of Uranium of Tehran.
At risk it is a possible American or Israeli military strike in the nuclear sites of Iran, or the Iranians who carry out their threats to pursue an atomic weapon.
Meanwhile, tensions in the Middle East have shot over the Israel-Ahamas war in the Gaza Strip and after the US air attacks. Uu. When attacking the hutis rebels backed by Yemen, they killed more than 70 people and wounded boxes.
“I’m about to stop Iran, very simply, to have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said Friday. “They will go to be great, prosperous and excellent.” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei, wrote on Saturday on the social platform X that they will “always demonstrated, in good faith and sense of responsibility, his commitment to diplomacy as a civilized way of solving problems.”
“We are aware that it is not a soft path that we take in each step with our eyes open, also trusting in the past experiences,” he added.
Araghchi, Witkoff felt before the conversations
Both men have been traveling in recent days. Witkoff had been in Paris to talk about Ukraine, since Russia’s large -scale war moves. Araghchi will come from Tehran, Iran, after a visit to Moscow, where he with officials, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russia, a member of the world powers involved in Tehran’s nuclear agreement in 2015, could be a key participant in any future agreement reached between Tehran and Washington.
Analysts suggest that Moscow could potentially take the uranium of Iran enriched at 60 percent purity, a short and technical step of levels of weapons or 90 percent.
Omaní Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busidi, who measured the first round, has already arrived in Rome and with his Italian counterpart on Friday. Baghaei said Al-Busaidi again average among countries.
Oman, a sultanate on the eastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula, has long served as an interlocutor between Iran and the West. Muscat organized the first round of negotiations between Araghchi and Witkoff last weekend, which saw the two men to be face to face after indirect conversations.
Iran seeks an agreement for a stable and problematic economy
Iran’s internal policy still inflated over the mandatory hijab, or the head roof, and women still ignore the law in the streets of Tehran. Rumors also persist on the government that potentially increases the cost of subsidized gasoline in the country, which has caused national protests in the past of the Rial currency of Iran to more than 1 million to a US dollar earlier this month. The currency has improved with the conversations, however, something that Tehran hopes to continue.
Meanwhile, two used Airbus A330-200 sought by the Iran Banderas carrier, Iran Air, arrived at Tehran Mehrabad International Airport on Thursday, showed the flight follow-up data analyzed by Associated Press. The airlines, previously from the Hainan airlines of China, had bones in Muscat and were registered again in Iran.
The plane had Rolls-Royce engines, which include significantly American pieces and services. Such transaction would need a treasure approach to the United States given the sanctions against Iran. The State Department and the Treasury did not respond immediately to a request for comments.
According to the 2015 agreement, Iran could buy new airplanes and align tens of billions of dollars in agreements with Airbus and Boeing Co. However, manufacturers moved away from the agreements on Trump’s threats to the nuclear agreement. (AP) py py
