Amid the concerns that external investment could threaten the local economy of Ladakh and its fragile ecology, the business community in Ladakh has announced a policy of non -cooperation with external investors.

Last week, several economic, political and religious organizations approved a resolution, asking for non -cooperation with 11 properties leased to strangers.

PT Kunzang, President or Ladakh Travel Trade Alliance (LTTA) said Business line That the property included hotels, resorts and camps leased by the locals to non -native commercial entities.

“This is the fifth consecutive resolution since 2020, and is not directed against the government, but the people who lease their properties to external investors,” Kunzang said.

Hello, he added that many of the properties had leased for more than 50 years.

In addition to commercial and religious agencies, the resolution was seconded by political parties, including the Bhartiya Janata (BJP) party, the National Indian Congress (INC) and the AAM AADMI (AAP) party.

According to the resolution, in recent years, external commercial interests and large corporations have increasingly sought to obtain control over the economic sector of Ladakh.

“Such developments represent a direct threat to Ladakh’s fragile ecology, limited investment opportunities and employment opportunities already scarce, endangering the Liverni bell of the local population of the programmed tribe,” says the resolution.

Kunzang said that Ladakh’s people trust the glacier water, which is already melting, and any external influx could further interrupt the fragile ecology of the region.
