Have you heard of the toll-free toll system based on APNR-fastag? With the aim of allowing a soft flow without car barriers and other vehicles through toll places, the Ministry of Transportation on the road and roads plans to install these systems in selected toll places in the country. APNR, which means “automatic numerical plaque recognition”, is a special technology that allows the detection and reading of vehicle numbers using image processing and recognition of optical characters (OCR).
How does it work? ALPR technology processes video images or images to identify plaque numbers without entry or human intervention.
On Friday, April 18, the Highway Ministry clarified that it has no tasks of any decision regarding the national satellite -based toll implementation from May 1, dismissing the reports that said system should be due to a Laun Altady system in Fastag.
“This is to clarify that such decision has been tasks of the Ministry of Transportation of Roads and Roads or the National Road Authority of India (NHAI) with respect to the national satellite -based toll implementation since May 1, 2025,” said the Ministry.
