The Secretary of Defense of the United States, Pete Hegseeth, ordered the termination of several information technology service contracts valued at $ 5.1 billion, including colleagues such as Accenture, Booz Allen Hamilton and Deloitte, according to a memorandum of the Pentagon.

The contracts “that represent the expense not murder in third -party consultants” for services that Pentagon employees can perform, Hegseeth said in the memorandum published Thursday night.

“These terminations represent $ 5.1 billion in unnecessary expenses,” said Hegseth, adding that his termination would result “almost $ 4 billion in estimated savings.”

The representatives of Accenture, Deloitte and Booz Allen Hamilton did not immediately respond to the requests for comments.

The contracts seemed to be high -range cuts to consulting services for the Navy, the Air Force, the Agency for Advanced Defense Research Projects (DARPA) and the Defense Health Agency.

In a video posted in X, Hegseeth said the contracts were for “auxiliary things such as consulting and other non -sensual services.” He said the services would take home.

In the memorandum, Hegseeth said that he was ordering the Pentagon Information Director to work for the next 30 days with the ELON MUSK billionaire government efficiency department to prepare a plan to cut and obtain the consulting and management of the Department of Defense.

In addition, the memorandum said the Pentagon would negotiate the “most favorable rates” for cloud computing services.
