Shein hikes US prices as much as 377% ahead of tariff increases

The fast fashion giant Shein Group Ltd. raised the US prices of his products from dresses to kitchen utensils before immimensil rates in small plots, in an early sign of the potential sign of the commercial war against US consumers.

Most of the prices in the United States arrived on Friday, with significantly higher frames in some categories than in others, according to the data compiled by Bloomberg News. The average price of the 100 best products in the beauty and health category increased by 51% since Thursday, with several of the items more than duplicate in price. For home and kitchen products and toys, the average jump was more than 30 percent, led by a mass increase of 377 percent in the price of a 10 -piece kitchen towels set. For women’s clothes, the increase was 8%.

Electronic commerce purchasing platforms such as Shein and Temu face a 120 percent rate in many of their products due to the decision of the United States government to end the exemption of “minimis” for small packages of continental China and Hong Kong. Exporters in recent years have taken advantage of the exemption, which allowed the assets valued in less than $ 800 to enter the United States without tariffs or customs tariffs. In February, to seek coverage of Trump’s rates policy, Shein sacrifices some of his Chinese suppliers to establish the production capacity in Vietnam. Temu wanted Chinese factories to send their own bulk products directly to US stores, adopting what he called a “custody” frame.

Temu and Shein saw a sales rebound in March and early April, since American buyers stored everything, from makeup brushes to appliances before price increases led by the rate are established, show Bloomberg’s data.
