Brands such as Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna experienced dozens of steep sales, which led Maruti's decision to suspend the Ciaz model.

Brands such as Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna experienced dozens of steep sales, which led Maruti’s decision to suspend the Ciaz model.

The compact and middle sedan segments in the category of passenger vehicles (PVS) decreased not only in the domestic market in fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25) but also in exports compared to the FY24.

During the year, the total of national wholesalers (dispatched the dealers) of the compact segment (Maruti Baleno and Dzire; Hyundai Aura and I20; Tata Tiago and Altroz; and Honda Amaze) decreased by 11.48 percent in the year and year of the year compared to 12,94,798 units in Fy24.

Similarly, exports decreased by 11.53 percent year -on -year to 2,09,260 units in fiscal year 2015, compared to 2,36,547 units in the fiscal year24, according to the latest data shared by the company or the manufacturers of Indian cars (SIAM).

In the category of middle sedan, including Maruti Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna, total national sales decreased by 28.12 percent year -on -year to 56,328 units in fiscal year 2015, compared to 78,373 units in the FY24.

In terms of exports, although the total numbers have decreased the year, they are much higher than the manufacturers have sold nationwide. Total exports reached 1,53,510 units in fiscal year 200, decreasing to 1.53 percent year -on -year as compared with 1,57,510 units in fiscal year 200, SIAM data indicated.

Once market leaders in the middle of the sedan, such as Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna, have seen sales decrease in recent years.

For example, sales of the city of Honda in the domestic market in fiscal year 2015 decreased to 10,901 units in the fiscal year 2015z in the domestic market, compared to 16,925 units in fiscal year 2000. In exports also, it has declined to 14,099 units last year, compared to 26,206 units in the previous financial year.

Similarly, Maruti Ciaz sales decreased to 8,402 units in fiscal year 2000 in the domestic market against 10,337 units in the fiscal year24. Exports has also decreased to 9,977 units last year, AGININST 10,973 units in fiscal year 2015.

Due to the fall of the number of Sedanes, Maruti Suzuki India has just decided to suspend the vehicle and has said that in the future, the company can bring Ciaz back in another form or platform.

Hyundai Verna sales also decreased to 15,593 units in the domestic market in fiscal year 2015 with 30,017 units in fiscal year 2014, and in exports it has also decreased to 52,615 units compared to 55,177 units in FY24.

One of the main reasons for the decrease in sales of compact cars and silk drugs is that customers are choosing sports service vehicles (SUV) or similar form factors in these two segments.

That is why SUV national sales have also grown by 11 percent year-on-year to 27.97,229 units in fiscal year 2015, compared to 25.20,691 units in the April period of March 2023-24. Exports have also grown by 54.3 percent year -on -year to 3,62,160 units in fiscal year 2000, compared to 2,34,720 units in fiscal year 2014.

It is likely that compliance with SIAM, the demand for export in key markets of interest, such as Africa, Latin America and neighboring countries, continues as vehicles “made in India” earn traction.

In general, the automobile industry will closely monitor the macroconomic factors and global geopolitics, which will determine the key demand conditions and the dynamics of the supply chain in the future, he added.
