Dash, director, Irma, door with an interaction with Business line. Extracts:
How will the Tribuvan Sahkari university shape?
We have a bone working for the cooperative sector during the last 45 years. When Irma begged, he limited himself to dairy cooperatives. Now we are becoming a national university, where we will play an important role in education, training and research related to the cooperative sector of India. The idea is to meet the education and training requirements of the entire cooperative value chain that extends from our villages to a cooperative body. The mandate is now much bigger.
For the new university, we will need a much larger infrastructure. It will work as a concentrator and radios model. The current Irma campus will become the center of the university in Anand. Radios will be the institutions affiliated with us.
What is the future for Irma after the approval of the bill? Will it continually return?
Irma will be part of the Tribuvan Sahkari University. It will become a university school that offers rural management such as the flagship program. In this way, Irma’s brand and legacy will continually keep. Irma will become the center of excellence in rural management under the university.
After consultations, such as Irma, we will establish other schools within the university that specific programs in the sector, including those of dairy cooperatives, sugar cooperatives and poultry and livestock, bank management and cooperative agribusiness, among others. To be Panindia, we have schools in other affiliated institutions that will sacrifice similar courses.
What about the financing of the new university?
We will obtain ₹ 500 million rupees of the government of India to develop infrastructure and other requirements of the new university. We will need new buildings for schools, personnel rooms, administrative building and facilities for students. The scale and size will be much larger than it exists on the ground. The university will need a larger configuration and, therefore, we will have to add more infrastructure. Otherwise, it will work in a self -sufficient way and we will receive support from the cooperative sector.
We plan to have a pan-india presence. In the states with the highest density of cooperatives, we will begin establishing four five institutions affiliated with the University of Tribuvan. If demand grows, we will have more affiliated institutions. We can reach a stable state in the next four years. Duration in this period, we plan to provide an affiliation to 250 institutions under this Hub-And-Shapke model.
Will the new institution have an academic and administrative autonomy similar to that enjoyed by Irma?
Like other central universities or other technical institutions financed with central funds, the University will have its own executive agency, which will be the main decision -making body. For Irma, academic autonomy will continue and continue to offer current programs provided that its Board of Governors decides to continue offering the courses. As far as possible, we are trying to retain the legacy and richness of programs that are executed successful during the last 45 years.
What are the first steps that University will take?
The idea, initially, is to use the existing infrastructure and not double it. There are about 300 small and medium -sized educational institutions associated with the cooperative sector. Some are led by the National Cooperative Training Council (NCCT), National Cooperative Development Corporation, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. We will try to bring all existing institutions that serve the sector first. This will ensure that there is no infrastructure duplication. We have already begun interested parties with the 20 institutions under the NCCT to condemn the process and the benefits of affiliation with our university. These institutions are present in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha, Bihar, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam and Western Bengal. Wherever there is a requirement, we will have a topic. We will be executing degree, diploma and certificate programs and need affiliations to administer them.
