The last announcement of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, exempting reciprocal tariffs from smartphones, laptops, hard drives, computer processors and memory chips, has given a break to electronic products manufacturers in India, especially Apple and Samsung.

According to the electronics industry in India, it is a great respite for smartphone manufacturers and they hoped there would be no extraordinary interruption.

“Time has come to establish capabilities. However, the long -term trend against China will continue to be robust. Having said that the incredible shock of the last week is in a tectonic event and the realignments are linked to spilled blood, he directed,” said Panks Snappen President, Association of Cell Phones and Electronics (Icea).

Icea Reectants Electronics Companies in India, including Apple, Samsung, HP, Dell, Asus, etc.

The analysts that track the developments said that President Trump had to exempt these articles from the list of reciprocal tariffs because electronic products are usually not carried out in the US. UU. And the creation of manufacturing would take a year for them.

“The US tariff exclusions. UU. They provide a very necessary relief for the global technology sector, relieve pressure in consumer electronics, semiconductors and hardware. The movement sacrificing the significant respite for the technological specialties of technology was caught Andy Industries,” said Prabhu Ram, intelligence group of the Cybermedia Research Industry (CMR).

The exclusion of smartphones and chips is particularly critical in the context of China’s rates. While adding the short-term conerns, long-term uncertainty about American-China commercial dynamics remains, he added.

China still has 20 percent of iPhones, laptops, tablets and smart watches. Only reciprocal rates for China have been eliminated. India still has zero tariffs on iPhones and all smartphones, laptops and tablets exported to us.

Vietnam also has zero tariffs on all Samsung smartphones (and esters), laptops and tablets exported to us. Therefore, India and Vietnam are placed similarly in tariffs on previous products and both enjoy 20 % of the advantage of China rates, experts said.

However, audio products (headphones, airpods, etc. are not covered by the exemption order, so they are subject to 100 percent+ rates when exported from China and 10 percent of rates when they are exported from India or Vietnam to us.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, had recently announced that Indian mobile phones exports have crossed a historical maximum of ₹ 2-Lakh Crore in the financial year 2024-25 (Fy25) that mark a 55 in Fyth4 in Fyth4. And iPhone shipments only contributed around ₹ 1.5 Lakh million rupees, of the total value of exports in fiscal year 2015.

According to the ICEA, the phenomenal increase in exports is mainly driven by the strategic implementation of the linked incentive scheme (PLI) of production, which has transformed India into one of the fastest growing mobile manufacturing centers in the world.

The scheme has attacked substantial global investments, improving the competitiveness, scale and capacity of India to integrate deeply into the global value chains.

“The export impulse is led by global companies such as Apple and Samsung, which have reduced their manufacturing operations significantly in India. As a result, it is estimated that the production of mobile phones of India has reached $ 5.25,000 million rupe FY25,000, in the fiscal year.
