The new chief operating officer of Guernsey’s specialist medical care provider said he was attracted to the role by the organisation’s aspirations to be “world-class”.

Dr Farid Fouladinejad joins the Medical Specialist Group (MSG) with more than 20 years’ experience working for the NHS in London.

The MSG said he had a wealth of experience and his “strong strategic insight”, combined with his “calm and cooperative leadership style” made him a great fit.

“I was attracted by a job description that showed an organisation that is very aspirational,” said Mr Fouladinejad.

‘Thorough and professional’

The new CEO said MSG’s aim to be world-class in a small island was “exceptional”.

Mr Fouladinejad has a PhD in medical electronics and physics from St Bartholomew’s Medical College and an MBA from Imperial College London.

He said he was inspired to apply for the role after speaking with MSG chair Dr Steve Evans.

“Steve really sold the role to me. His enthusiasm and commitment to the residents of Guernsey stood out and was a driver for me to hit send on the application,” he said.

‘Diverse expertise’

Mr Fouladinejad said healthcare organisations across the world were “facing many challenges”.

“Whereas the MSG clearly intends to build on its strengths and enter the next phase of its journey, delivering world class healthcare for the residents of Guernsey,” he said.

Mr Fouladinejad said he was looking forward to joining the local community and getting involved in island life.

“I hope to learn how to sail at some point,” he said.

“A daily commute to work, past the seashore is just one of the bonuses of life in Guernsey. I wish I had come here several years ago.”
