According to the National Board of Dental Assistance, the labor satisfaction of the dental assistant has decreased every year since 2016, and currently only 50% feel valued by its employer. In the last year, feeling appreciated is now the second highest reason why dental attendees are leaving the dental field.

Only with the benefits of the members of the team promoted and greater time compensation, the exodus of the staff and the growing dissatisfaction are close to the headaches of the practices owners.

There are opportunities for relief. These are the four things to do to increase the morals and job satisfaction of their assistants.

  1. Sacrifice the training and development of the installation: Investing in continuous education and training programs demonstrates a commitment to the professional growth of dental assistants. Providing opportunities to learn new skills and advance their careers not only improves job satisfaction, but also improves the patient’s experience.
  2. Be intentional with your retention: These efforts are crucial for the stability of the maintenance practice and the continuity of attention. Don’t be passive. Be direct. Set of scheduled time with each of their assistants to the feedback of platform and then act. Listening to your thoughts and concerns about various aspects of your practice and implementing positive changes depending on your contribution demonstrates a commitment to your well -being and can help cultivate a loyal and motivated team.
  3. Foster a sense of property and commitment: Dental attendees may feel frustrated if they perceive that their roles are strictly the dentist’s assistant, with limited autonomy and decision -making authority. Now is the time to change that! Trained dental assistants in specialized procedures can allow practice to expand their service offers. Whether to help in advanced treatments such as dental implants or expand its clinical functions, a broader range of services can attract more patients and increase income flows. Create opportunities to let the issue better highlight its value.
  4. Recognize and appreciate contributions: Dentists must recognize hard work and dedication or dental assistants regularly. Every minute of the day is important, but this time it will be worth it for you, your team and your patients in the long term. Whether through verbal praise, written recommendations or small tokens of appreciation, recognizing their contributions increases morality and reinforces a sense of value within the equipment.
