There are people in my life who are the most wonderful, always reflective, always unique, always successful gift donors. I have learned some lessons of thesis and family friends about how to be a really excellent gift donor, and I share you with you today. These gift ideas apply to any occasion, from vacations to birthdays and every small intermediate celebration. This is to share significant gifts with the people we love.

5 ways of being a great gift of gifts

1. Listen all year, or start now!

People tell you what they love, and reflective thinking begins with listening In those moments. With everyone in my life, I have been listening to what they say and tuning what excites them. I keep an ear out of gift ideas throughout the year, so I don’t haveten when vacations (or birthday) arrive.

Have you started a new hobby? Ask how it goes and gets inspiration from there. Are they making a great transition to retirement or move throughout the country? Listen to ways to help, celebrate or honor the milestone. The best gifts are those that show some who notice the little things they love or pursue.

2. Collect gift ideas in one place.

Do not have yourself to remember the ideas you collect throughout your listening. Find a way to collect the information and organize it. Mainly use the application of iPhone notes. Joe and I have a shared note with a list of people’s birthdays in our lives. Under each name, I will write holders of thoughts for gifts and things that I know. I also keep some ideas verbally in the Voice Memos application, which is an easy way to get ideas from my head at the time to visit them again.

3. Request a list.

If you are trapped, do not be afraid to ask the person for a brief list of what they want exactly. Some people avoid being so direct or think that magic takes out of gifts. I think it is a perfectly reasonable way to make sure that it is giving a gift that will be used and enjoyed. When I ask for a list, I find the experience of gifts as pleasant as I think of gift ideas on my own. This takes me to my next point …

4. The gift does not need to be a surprise.

Don’t worry about devising the “perfect” gift idea. Nor do you have to surprise them with something unexpected! Choosing a gift from your desire list is a wonderful way to delight them and Give them something they really want. I got Joe a couple of specific shoes he asked on his birthday, and his reaction was as if it were a total surprise. Hey was so excited! He reminded me that true surprises are sometimes overvalued.

5. Do not compensate in excess.

Be careful with the temptation to compensate in excess, which is not sure what your Gifty Wussions are. When it comes to giving gifts, or we end up spending too much, which makes each lease uncomfortable. I think about the episode or The office Where Michael gave an iPod video in the group exchange when the spending limit was $ 20.

Or, sentimental gifts mean so much (if not more) than expensive items. For Joe’s birthday, I recorded a video about why I love him and the children did. It was a unique way to capture this moment in time and it cost nothing. If excessive compensation is a pattern of yours, I hope that ideas in this publication help you avoid it!

To get more inspiration to give gifts, I will share my Christmas gift guide on White & Delight this month! Until then, navigate the gift guide last year so that gift ideas flow.
