There was a positive side thanks to the target cuts by the Bank of the Reserve, only one of which would have affected the data.

S&P global said that “the delays are likely to remain low with the cuts of interest rates in the game and inflation.”

“Global uncertainty and their effect on trade chains and global supply will have downstream impacts on business and consumers, affecting consumer investment and expenditure decisions.”

But he added that “households are likely to behave more cautiously, opting to save or pay mortgages on spending. This will help keep the delays low.”

S&P global expects unemployment to increase this year, which will affect the levels of arrears, but forecast them that it will remain below the prepaandia levels.

“Interest rate cuts will relieve debt service pressures. But we believe they will not make a material difference in general delay levels because they are likely to be gradual. These factors will allow most households to remain current in their mortgages.”
