The Jeff Bezos Effect! $20 Million Beverly Hills Mansion Next to Billionaire’s Abode Lands Prime Spot at the Top of Most Popular Homes List

Talk about a prime piece of real estate! A modern mansion at the entrance to Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos‘ $165 million Beverly Hills, CA, estate has popped onto the market for the relatively more-affordable price of $19.8 million.

Not only does the five-bedroom estate come complete with plenty of star power thanks to its proximity to the famed businessman, it also has the added caché of a first-place spot on the Realtor.com® most popular homes list—an honor it earned just days after hitting the market.

Located next to the sprawling compound the Amazon founder purchased in 2020 for an eye-watering $165 million, this 9,795-square-foot contemporary was designed by Gabbay Architects and boasts three floors of sleek living.

A three-story, curved wooden staircase seamlessly flows up to a glass-enclosed atrium. Other luxurious details include herringbone wood floors, stone walls, a bar and lounge, and a 15-car garage.

Also grabbing attention this week are modernist architect Irwin Stein‘s personal Bryn Mawr residence; a former church turned residence, with Civil War ties in Charleston; and an 8,500-square-foot Minnesota residence custom designed for grand-scale entertaining, uniquely offering just one bedroom.

Why it’s here: This former church has been transformed into 3,930 square feet of reincarnated space.

Built in 1920, the historic Sertoma Building once housed the United Methodist Church and later Leisure Education for Exceptional People before the sellers purchased it through auction. Although reborn, the renovated space still retains a historic significance that can be detected in the original beams, stained-glass windows, vaulted ceilings, and bell tower. Modernizations boast a walk-in rain shower, wine cellar, and a commercial-style kitchen on the lower level.

The property can be used as commercial, residential, or a combination of both.

The six-bedroom Wyncote estate was built in 1908 and has been well preserved over the years. Evidence of its history can be seen in the restored hardwood floors, exposed-beam ceilings, custom millwork, built-in cabinetry, and five fireplaces.

This six-bedroom estate was designed by modernist architect Irwin Stein as his own personal residence.

The 5,556-square-foot home boasts “strong geometry” and “midcentury ideals” throughout the “carefully planned interiors.” Highlights include vaulted ceilings and glass walls, a wood spiral staircase leading to a floating loft, a circular kitchen with original details, and a living room with a sunken conversation pit and built-in seating. The lower level with a second kitchen and bonus room could be used as a home office or guest accommodations.

 It’s a remodeled, two-bedroom primary residence that comes with a brand-new, one-bedroom guest cottage.

The adorable main abode was built in 1910 but has been entirely modernized. The open floor plan features cathedral ceilings, a stylish kitchen with a stainless steel farmhouse sink, and a primary suite with access to a private terrace. A stone patio with lush gardens surrounding the heated and cooled in-ground pool connects both structures.

Currently being used as “an active vacation rental,” the investment property could also be transformed into a cozy family compound.
