For the third time in Four Grands Prix, a McLaren in pole position starts this Formula 1 season.
For the second time this year it is Oscar Piastri who will be at the front when the Bahrain Grand Prix starts on Sunday.
While Piastri and teammate Lando Norris were again the strongest in practice, it was Piastri who took pole position for George Russell. As far as Norris is concerned, I slid to the sixth when the Q3 came to an end and continued to look for answers after the qualifying performance where he was’ at ‘it’.
“[It] I felt like I have been comfortable all weekend and there is no better place to start than on the pole. [I] I can’t thank the team enough for the car they gave me and I’m excited for the race tomorrow, “said Piaastri after qualifying.
While Russell qualified second, he will not start there. Both Russell and teammate Kimi Antonelli were hit with One-Place Grid criminals after qualifying, as Mercedes Sir Bleh drivers in the fast lane at Pitrij after the crash of Esteban Esteban Ocon in Q2, a violation of the nuts of the racing director.
Russell now starts with third place and Antonelli, who qualified in fourth place, will fall to the fifth.
